Beloved St. Matthew’s P.E. teacher retires after 44 years

August 11, 1968 – May 19, 2020

 

Edwick Joseph “Ed” Brown, a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana and resident of Houma, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the age 51.


A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, West Park in Gray, Louisiana from 5:00 pm until the Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Peggy Brown; children, Selena, Edwick, and Atlas Brown; one grandson to be born in August; mother, Regina Tardieff Brown; siblings, John Johnson of California, Corey Smith of Napoleonville, Rodrick Brown of Gray, Kevin Brown of Florida, Troy Brown of Schriever, Kelly Brown of Schriever, Travis Brown of Gray, Annette Joseph of Napoleonville, Linette Williams of Thibodaux, Kellie Cooks of Houma, Stacey Cooks of Grammercy, and Toni Brown of Houma; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Brown; brother, Fredrick Brown Sr.; grandmothers, Carrie Walker and Harriet Tardieff; mother-in-law, Alice Campbell; father-in-law, Atlas Campbell; and numerous aunts and uncles.


Ed was known for his gentle quietness and demeanor, as well as his love for his wife, children, and all who knew him. He was known as the “gentle giant”, and was the type that never met a stranger and became friends with everyone. He will be dearly missed by everyone, but his spirit will still live on.
