Ernest James Eschete, 74, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery in Bayou Blue.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 wonderful years, Sandra Samanie Eschete; children, Lynette A. Eschete and Joel P. Eschete (Michelle Callahan); grandchildren, Kristen Pierce, Josie Eschete, and Jace Eschete; great-grandchildren, Khaylie Eschete, Cole Eschete, and Aleah Wilson; brothers, Floyd J. Eschete, Jr. (Elaine), Daniel Eschete (Theresa), and Mark Eschete (Roma); sister-in-law, Cindy Eschete; godchildren, Tiffany Bonvillain and Tammy Armand; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Curt Eschete; parents, Floyd J. Eschete, Sr. and Hilda Bergeron Eschete; brother, Timothy Eschete; and sisters, Norma Eschete Durham (Elton) and Susan Mary Eschete Voisin (Cecil).
On May 28, 2022, Sandra Eschete lost the love of her life of 54 years, but everybody else also lost one hell of a good man. A man who loved and cared for his family and friends first before himself. Ernest will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cared with all his heart. Ernest was greatly loved and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the K-9 Unit, EMS Team, and the additional responders for their quick action and care. The family would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and well-wishes during this time.
