Pete served in the Air Force in the Korean War. He was the founder and owner of Pitre’s Texaco in Dulac for 30 years. In the 70’s he worked for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church and served on the Board of First National Bank. He was an advent fisherman who could out fish anyone. He knew the bayous better than the highways. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He could not pass up a child without giving them a hug, kiss, and a bite on the cheek. To his friends and family, he was known as “Pop-a-Top”.

He was surrounded by his family when he passed. And till the end, he still had a sense of humor. He had a life well lived.

The family would like to thank everyone who assisted in taking care of Pete. A special thanks goes out to Haydel’s Hospice, Samart Funeral Home, and Dr. Dominique from TGMC for his compassion and sensitivity.
