Hyacinthe Carline Pierron of Houma, LA was born in 1932 on a houseboat in Bayou Plaquemine amongst the beautiful purple water lilies, thusly her name, and died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 23, 2021, in New Iberia, LA after a lengthy illness. The family will receive friends immediately before and after the graveside services on Saturday, August 28, at the Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery in Houma. The graveside services are scheduled at 11:00 AM with Mother Suzanne Wolfenbarger of Trinity Parish Church, Natchitoches, LA officiating.
Mrs. Pierron, affectionally known to many as “Miss Hy”, was preceded in death by her parents, Edward James “Mr. Son” Carline, Sr. and Carrie Perkins Carline; her three brothers, Edward James Carline, Jr., Walter J. Carline, and Louis H. Carline; her husband, Roy J. Pierron; and an infant son, Rhodes Joseph Seymour.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dr. Dan Seymour and his wife, Dr. Cathy Reed Seymour of Natchitoches; two grandchildren and their spouses, Carrie Seymour LeBlanc and her husband, John Harold LeBlanc, of Shreveport, LA and James Reed Seymour and his wife, Laura Hetherwick Seymour, of Baton Rouge; and two great granddaughters, Stafford Rose Seymour and Annie Reed Seymour, both of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her sister, Babs Carline Pertuit of Raceland, a sister-in-law, Stella Zerangue Carline of Plaquemine, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tragically, Miss Hy was widowed at a relatively young age, but lead a busy and productive life. With her late husband she owned and operated Roy J. Pierron Towing, H & R Towing, and the 1950s and 60s iconic Houma institution, Roy’s Super Market on Barrow Street. She operated her ladies apparel shop on Barrow Street in Houma for nearly 50 years, finally forced out of business by Hurricane Rita in 2005. She had a passion for gardening and painting and produced a beautiful collection of still-life oil paintings currently the prized possessions of her son and daughter-in-law and their children. Miss Hy was a member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians Carnival Club for nearly 40 years and enjoyed the activities of the local Red Hatters .
