He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney S. George, Sr.; mother, Pearl D. George; and brother, Sidney S. George, Jr.

James George, affectionately known as Jimmy, loved his family and always worried that they were safe, happy, and healthy. He and Carole Sue were married for 36 years and were friends for over 60 years. Jimmy was a 1960 graduate of Thibodaux College and a 1965 graduate of Nicholls State University.

Jimmy was a jeweler by trade but designing and engraving were also his hobbies. He was extremely proud of his family business Sidney S. George Jewelers located in Thibodaux, LA, which his grandfather, Simon George, established in 1895. The jewelry store closed in 2015 after 120 years in business. He always studied his craft as a jeweler and attended many classes on hand engraving, using a hammer and chisel. For over 40 years, he sketched designs, perfected them, and casted and produced a finished piece of jewelry.

While he was healthy, Jimmy was a pilot. He loved to fly, talk to other pilots, and spend time at airports looking at planes. In addition to flying, he was a loved musician always wanting to perform well and for the band to perform their best. Sound was most important to him, because he wanted the crowd to be happy and the band to sound great. He preferred to be a member of the horn section and of big bands. His saxophone sound was his own and he loved helping younger musicians perfect their talent. He played many years with Blue Eyed Soul at Jazz Fest, several years with Boogie Kings, and with many other great lead singer groups over a 60 year career as a musician. But most of all, he truly loved playing music with his brothers Sidney Jr. and Rogers.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the prayers, love, and support during this time. A special thank you to all the staff at Audubon Health and Rehab and St. Catherine’s Hospice for the care, attention, and love you gave Jimmy.
