Lanier James “Zubie” Soudelier, Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Houma, La., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the age of 83.


Mr. Soudelier made his career in the oilfield, working in production for Texaco and other smaller operations.  As an employee of Texaco, he traveled to and lived in Wari, Nigeria for several years, and often spoke of that experience.  Lanier was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Zubie enjoyed his family, cooking, boating & fishing, playing golf with his friends, and listening to the blues. He was a great son, brother, father, mentor, and friend to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his daughters Renee (Ron) Lirette and Ann (Larry) Worzella, sons Lanier, Jr. and Troy (LeAnn) Soudelier, brothers Thad, Jr., Kent (Alice), and Warren (Rachel) Soudelier, and sisters Carolyn (Whitney) Boudreaux and Linda (Ronald) Pepper, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thaddeus J. Soudelier, Sr. and Mae Mary Whitney Soudelier, and brother Morris Soudelier, Sr.


A service will be held in Mr. Soudelier’s honor at a later date.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma, West Park is in charge of the arrangements.
