With profound sadness we announce the passing of Laura Sonier Thibodaux our devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She left us while sleeping at her home in Bayou Blue/ Gray, La.
In her 92 years she witnessed incredible changes in our world with her husband Benson Thibodaux Sr. She was proud that together they built and farmed crawfish ponds and created Kajun Trailer Park.
She was an accomplished cook and delighted in making and sharing sweet treats, especially her peanut butter and divinity fudge.
She was the beloved mother of Peggy and son in law Ronny Gann, her sons Ricky Babin, and Benson Thibodaux Jr and daughter in law Jeannie. Step daughter Margie Cox, and step sons Larry and Gray Thibodaux. She was the proud grand mother of Melanie, Joshua, Joey, Ami, and Coy. Great grand mother of Kylie, Alyssa, Hallie, Amity, Christopher, Joslyn, Brennon, Lyndi, Micah and James, and great great grandmother of Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Benson Thibodaux Sr, her son Gary Paul Babin, her parents Clay and Ozea Sonier, three brothers Nelson, Chester (Bud), and Mitchel, and four sisters, Mattie Babin, Jennie Stevens, Vilrey (TV) Gagneaux, and June Oncale.
She was passionate about her community service with the Bayou Blue Coteau Lions Club and The Bayou Blue Senior Center. Even though she was blind she enjoyed crocheting, and listening to her audio stories.
