Leroy J. Detiveaux Sr., 85, a native of Bourg and resident of Houma, passed away on August 11, 2021.


Visitation will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 from 10:30am to 11:30am, with the Mass of Christian Burial to start at 11:30am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Masks are required to attend and temperatures will be checked prior to entering the church.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Cuneo Detiveaux; sons, Leroy Detiveaux Jr. (wife, Stacy), Gregory Detiveaux (wife, Cindy), Andre Detiveaux (wife, Tammy), Paul Detiveaux, and Matthew Detiveaux; daughter, Mary Smith (husband, Kenneth); grandchildren, Abbie Lloyd, Douglas Detiveaux, Andree Bergeron, Lauren Coleman, Randy Cutrer, Andrew Detiveaux, Brandon Cutrer, William Decoteau, Emilie Decoteau, Benjamin Detiveaux, Daniel Detiveaux, Nicole Detiveaux, and Noah Detiveaux; 19 great grandchildren; and sister, Clara Gambrella.

He was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Joanna Chao Detiveaux; parents, Godfrey and Ernestine V. Detiveaux; brother, Edward Detiveaux; sister, Rosadell Brooks.


He was a charismatic man whose first words to anyone would be a joke, witty comment, or if he was just meeting you, “who do you belong to”.
