April 28, 1947 – December 12, 2021

Milton Anthony Picou, Sr., born April 28, 1947, a native of Cocodrie and resident of Chauvin, was granted his angel wings and went peacefully to his new heavenly home on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 10:40 pm, at the age of 74.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery.


He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marilyn Blanchard Picou; children, Jackie Picou, Carolyn Marcel (Kenneth), Milton Picou, Jr. (Linda), Wesley Picou (Talina), and Salinna Lirette (Raymond); step-son, Wiley LeBouef, Jr.; ex-son-in-law, Kirt Marcel; and ex-daughter-in-law, Amanda Picou; grandchildren, Kirby, Kirtis, Caralynn, Caralinna Marcel, Alex, Cahil Picou, and Caleb, Landon Lirette; step-grandchildren, Cody, Haley, Dylan, Courtney LeBouef; and neighbor adopted grandchild, Kevin Molinere; 3 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and 6 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Phillip, Leray Sr., and Jesse Picou (godchild); and godchildren, Danny Picou and Norman Smith, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elam and Dorothy Domangue Picou, Jr.; brothers, Miller, Elam III, and Albert “Peanut” Picou; sisters, Dorothy Fitch, Cecile and Laura Lee Picou; grandchild, Alisha Picou; godchildren, Herman Scott and Glenn Trahan; and two brothers-in-law that he dearly missed, David and Elgin LeBlanc.

His biggest passions included playing the guitar and spending quality time with family and friends, shrimping, net making, playing pedro, telling jokes and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
