Murphy Joseph Morvant, 90, died Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 9:13 am. Born June 10, 1932 he was a native of Labadieville, Louisiana and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 8:30 am until service time at Saint Genevieve Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with burial following at Saint Joseph Cemetery.


He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie “Mary” Giroir Morvant; children Calvin Morvant (Stephanie) & Melissa Dupre (Dwaine); grandchildren, Ryan Morvant, Christopher Morvant (Miranda), Meghan Loya (Andy), Emily Dupre, Natalie Dupre; great grandchildren, Lucas Loya, Asher Morvant, Grayson Loya; brothers, Norris Morvant, Merlin Morvant (Doris) & Melvin Morvant (Helen).

He is preceded in death by his parents Joachim Morvant and Armentine Landry Morvant; and siblings Eves Morvant, Junius Morvant, Harry Morvant, Marrial Pitre, Marion Tardo, Iris Santangelo Leto , Ella May Morvant.

Murphy served in United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the 25th Division as a Private First Class. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. He was a member of the South Thibodaux Fire Company.
