Percy Joseph Collins, Jr., 70, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, died at 5:21 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022 with his loving wife at his side.


Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time at 5:00 PM Monday February 7, 2022 at Chauvin Funeral Home on Hwy 311 in Houma, Louisiana.

Percy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Veronica “Mary” Bellanger Collins; daughter, Danielle M. Collins and companion Tommy “TJay” Guzman, Jr; son, John J. Collins and wife Jaclyn R. Collins; granddaughter, Lainey; grandson, Xander; brother, David F. Collins; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Percy is preceded in death by his parents, Percy J. Collins, Sr. and wife Marie R. Avet Collins; brothers, Farrell J. Collins, Timmy P. Collins and wife Mary Ann Collins; grandparents, Myrtile J. Collins and Libby Trosclair Collins; John J. Avet and Georgiana Pellegrin Avet; inlaws, Claude J. Bellanger and Josephine M. Boquet Bellanger; bestfriend, John J. Schroeder.


Percy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Eucharistic Minister for over 30 years. He was a retired commercial fisherman, certified diesel mechanic, boat captain, a Lieutenant in the Department of Corrections, and an all around handyman. He volunteered in the Terrebonnne Parish School system for over 15 years. He loved helping others and would help anyone who asked. He enjoyed the outdoors, shrimping, fishing, and hunting. He always had amazing life stories to tell and loved spending time with his family. Percy was above all a great man, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godparent, and friend. He will be truly missed and forever in our hearts.
