Rene Louis Hebert, Jr., born on February 27, 1942, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the age of 79.


A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 10:00 am until the Memorial Service at 12:00 pm.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Freeman Hebert; children, Kim Hebert Harrison (Chett), Rene L. Hebert, III (Jenny), and Katherine “Kitty” Hebert; step-children, Angela Rogers Ledet (Allen), Terry Rogers (Christy), Carl Rogers (Michelle), Maureen Rogers Breaux (Shaun), and Margaret Rogers Pasqua (Tom); 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Hebert and Lynn C. Hebert, Sr. (Mona); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Hebert Hymel; parents, Rene L. Hebert, Sr. and Dorothy Babin Hebert Douglas; siblings, Judy Hebert Dufrene and Everett Hebert, Sr.; and his canine companion, Blondie.


Rene Jr. will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a dear friend. Rene accomplished many goals in his lifetime, such as, graduating Terrebonne High School in 1960, enlisting in the United States Navy, retired from Occidental Chemical Company after 35 years of employment, and volunteered in many church ministries including disaster relief and feeding the homeless. His accomplishments were a reflection of his character; a generous man that would always help anyone in need, even a stranger. Rene enjoyed gardening, cooking, DIY projects, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Rene will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
