Richard Paul Balcom, 71, a native of Rome, New York and a resident of Bourg, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 4:30 pm until his Celebration of Life at 6:30 pm.

He is survived by his beloved sweetheart, Eleanor “Chickie” Trahan; brothers, Jerry Balcom (Elaine) and Alan Balcom (Melody); sisters, Joan Buyea (Wayne), Patricia Hedgecock (Grover), Linda Blocker, Marianne Lansdon, and Judy Balcom; and aunt, Betty Balcom.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Wilbur Balcom and Nellie Lillian Balcom; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Richard was thankful for his NWC Neighborhood Watch friends and his comrades with the United States Marine Corps, was a die-hard “War Eagle” Auburn fan, loved his “grandchildren”, which they affectionately called him “Boo-Boo”, and he enjoyed hosting cook outs and parties. Although things would get rough, he would always say his favorite saying, “I don’t care”. Richard will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
