Robert Bernard Marcel, Sr., passed away Saturday November 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native and longtime resident of Houma, La.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday November 24, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery #2.


Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Duplantis Marcel; children, Robin Thibodaux and husband Brian, Robert “Bobby” Marcel, Jr. and wife Pricilla; grandchildren, Lauren Thibodaux Pendleton and husband Joseph, Sarah Thibodaux, Falon Marcel Hoggatt and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Weston Taylor Hoggatt, Levi Allen Hoggatt; brother, Ray Marcel; sister, Shirley Marcel Hernandez.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Marcel, Sr. and Adele Bernard Marcel; brothers, Wilson Marcel, Jr., Thomas “Tot” Marcel and wife Rosemary; sisters, Yvette M. Hebert and husband Joe, Enid Marcel, Jeanne M. Daigle and husband Robert, Irene M. Rhodes and husband Clifton.

Robert was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed going to music festivals, such as CMA Fest and Grand Ole’ Opry, camping, and going to the casino. Robert and his wife loved going on cruises in which they enjoyed 46 together. He was a mechanic at Porche Motor Company for thirty-five years. He also worked at Service Automotive, Bass Tire and Appliance, and drove for Good Earth Transit. Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
