Velma R. Dufrene, 81, a native and resident of Lockport, LA, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, Raceland, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Holy Savior Cemetery, Lockport, LA.

She is survived by her children, Edwis Dufrene Jr., Charles Dufrene, Richard Dufrene (Melinda), Annette Hebert (Kirk), Ray Dufrene (Melissa), Ellen Sevin, (Tilman “T.J.”), Sandra Doucet (Chet); sisters, Thelma Chiasson, Bertha Vedros, Bernice Bourgeois; sister-in-law, Vivian Roussel; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwis Dufrene Sr., parents, Arthur Roussel Sr. and Clemillia Griffin Roussel; daughter-in-law, Jenny LeBlanc Dufrene; brother, Arthur Roussel Jr.; sister, Maude Dupre Crochet.
Velma was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister for the home bound and was a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Velma served as the cafeteria manager for Holy Savior Catholic School for 21 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and spending time with her family.
