Dear Editor,

Words cannot express the gratitude for another great “ BBQ Bash” year. The threat of thunderstorms for the weekend didn’t stop our event. The downtown area under the bridge is the perfect place for hosting events. I want to thank the City of Morgan City and Mayor “Boo” Grizaaffi for their help promoting our event and the use of the area under the bridge.

I also want to thank Mata and Don Tellman for all that they do to promote the bash. They spend a lot of time on the road meeting with businesses and people to market our event. Their dedication and hard work is what makes this event so successful.

The Cajun Coast Visitor’s Bureau is a major sponsor that helps market not only the “BBQ Bash” but St. Mary Parish. Carrie and her staff worked very hard putting together the flyers, posters and event information in several travel magazines across the state.

This year we had many volunteers that met frequently with us as we planned this year’s program. Danny and Rhonda Titus were among those volunteers along with John Cart- State Farm Agency, who chaired the judge’s section and did a wonderful job. It takes a lot of people working together to successfully put on a festival. Also, I want to thank Mark Stephens with the Fire Department for their help with cleaning under the bridge prior to the event and afterwards the trash and garbage was picked- up. The “Kid’s Zone” was sponsored this year by US Agencies. They did a great job providing activities for the children. The Morgan City High Volley Ball Team and the Boy Scouts jumped in to help us during the Bash and we appreciated their help. I want to thank everyone that helped us with the “Bash”. So many of our volunteers have been around for quite some time, and help us because they are great supporters of the Chamber and value what we do for St. Mary Parish.

My staff- Lisa Patterson, Bridgette Basas and Eugina Price along with Vice Chairman, Bob Harrison and JoAnne Bergeron, board member put in many hours on Friday and Saturday to help make this event a success. Without the help of dedicated staff and volunteers this event couldn’t happen.

In closing, I want to thank everyone for their support of the Chamber and its efforts to promote business in St. Mary Parish. My door is always open to suggestions and comments on how we can best help you.

Donna F. Meyer,

President, St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce
