The following is a series of one-liners for your reflection and edification. The authors are unknown in the first grouping.

• Peace starts with a smile.

• Don’t let your worries get the best of you. Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

• Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.

• Preaching 10 sermons is easier than living one.

• The good Lord didn’t create anything without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

• When you get to your wit’s end, you will find God lives there.

• Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on the front door forever.

• Quit griping about your church; if it were perfect, you could not belong.

• God does not judge a person until death. So why should we?

• Some minds are like concrete: thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

• I don’t know why some people change churches. What difference does it make which one you stay home from?

• Many church members who sing “Standing on the Promises” are just sitting on the premises.

• Jesus told us to be fishers of people. We catch them and he cleans them.

• Coincidence happens when God chooses to remain anonymous.

• Don’t put a question mark where God put a period.

• Forbidden fruits create many jams.

• God doesn’t call the qualified; God’s Spirit qualifies the called.

• God grades on the cross, not on the curve.

• God loves everyone, but probably prefers “fruits of the spirit” over “religious nuts!”

• God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

• The person who angers you, controls you.

• If God is your co-pilot, swap seats!

• Prayer does not involve giving God instructions, but reporting for duty.

• The task ahead of us is never as great as the Power behind us.

• The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

• We do not change the message; the message changes us.

• We can tell how big people are by what it takes to discourage them.

• The best mathematical equation: 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

• Justice: When you get what you deserve. Mercy: When you don’t get what you deserve. Grace: When you get what you don’t deserve.

• Life is precious. Handle with care.

• Exercise daily. Walk with the Lord.

• Nothing else ruins the truth like stretching it.

• Read the Bible. It will scare the hell out of you.

• Don’t wait for six strong men to take you to church.

• We were called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.

• “Decide what is right before you decide what is possible.” (Brian Tracy)

• “Remember, happiness does not depend on who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think.” (Dale Carnegie)

• “Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” (Joseph Addison)

• “Habits are like comfortable beds; they are easy to get into, but difficult to get out of.” (Denis Waitley)

• “Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.” (Karen Kaiser Clark)

• “When deeds speak, words are nothing.” (African Proverb)

• “Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.” (Kahlil Gibran )

• “Always do right. This will gratify some people, and astonish the rest.” (Mark Twain)

• “Hard work pays off in the future; laziness pays off now.” (Steven Wright)

• “The spiritual eyesight improves as the physical eyesight declines.” (Plato)

If you share these thoughts with others, you will probably not win the lottery, or have some other good fortune; neither will any disaster happen to you if you choose not to share them. If you do share them, you might help put a smile on someone’s face and make them think.
