Dear Editor,

Wow! Our parish president continues to profess innocence as to any wrongdoing in her dealings with BP. Is she living a dream, or suffering from Angola syndrome? I hear everyone there claims to be innocent.

If she resigned as she should, she would have plenty of time to seek therapy. How could anyone in her position be so out of touch with her constituents?

To think that she would believe that they would buy into her claims of innocence. It makes me wonder whether she’s delusional, or simple not telling the truth.

And speaking of claims, the real tragedy here is the people who had claims against BP. The people in the parish with claims trusted in good faith that she would fight tooth and nail for them. We are asked to believe she would fight the people signing her check. Hmmmm.

Another thing that amazes me is that she claims to have gone to Baton Rouge the day after she found out she may have violated ethics laws.

Why did she not bring a $50,000 check for them to hold in escrow till this matter is resolved? As for the BTNEP/LUMCON scandal, I assume the ethics board is investigating that.

She should bring a $90,000 check to the ethics board now. How would she pay for this? She could sell her stock portfolio that increased dramatically during these unethical transactions. Or ask the wealthy supporters that are cleaning the oil or maybe those that seem to have a fast track on permits.

It is my personal opinion that anyone found guilty of ethics violations should have the decency to resign or to be charged with malfeasance in office. Mrs. Randolph, the time has come for you to go.

Lisa Helmer,
