The Nicholls women’s basketball team is in the Final 4 of the Southland Conference Tournament.
The Colonels beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi 61-59 on Friday morning in the SLC Tournament in Katy, Texas – the first game that Nicholls played after an opening-round bye.
It wasn’t easy.
Nicholls trailed 18-14 after 1 and the game was tied at 46-all going to the fourth quarter.
But in the final stages, Nicholls made the plays to win.
The Colonels made free throws and got stops late to secure the win against a Corpus Christi team that also revved up in the fourth quarter.
Nicholls led 61-59 with 11 seconds left after Marina Lilly made a free throw.
Corpus Christi had a chance late, but missed a shot, then Cassidy Barrios blocked the putback to seal the win.
The Colonels will face Lamar tomorrow in the Semifinals.
