E.D. White Catholic swept both the District 9-3A girls’ and boys’ cross country district championships this year at Peltier Park, while in 7-5A, Hahnville’s boys’ team and H.L. Bourgeois’ girls’ teams were both winners in their respective fields.

On the boys’ side, E.D. White won the meet with a combined score of 19 points. Their only other competition in the race was Berwick, who finished with a score of 60 points.

Leading the way for E.D. White was Stephen Boudreaux, who won the race with a time of 17:45. Berwick’s Neal Theriot finished second with a time of 18:00.

In all, E.D. White placed eight runners in the top 10 of the race.

“The boys know that they could have run better, and that they will run better when we get to the state meet,” E.D. White coach Don Grabert said. “There was just one team they had to go against (in the district meet). I don’t think they were as motivated.”

On the girls’ side, E.D. White finished with a team score of 15 points. Emily Sauce, who had been injured with a torn labrum in her hip earlier this year, won the race with a time of 20:42.

“With not having any competition, I thought they ran real well,” said Grabert. “I looked at some other times around the state and they ran really well but they were pushed by somebody. For not being pushed, I thought it (E.D. White ran) pretty good.”

In the 7-5A races, Hahnville took home first place in the boys’ race with a combined score of 26. Hahnville’s Bryce Robinson led the way with an individual time of 15:30.

H.L. Bourgeois won the girls’ race with a combined score of 54. Their top runner was Alice Deano, who had a time of 22:07 and finished second overall behind Central Lafourche’s Brooke Picou, who ran a 21:10.
