The Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced last week that the Central Lafourche baseball will forfeit three wins in their 2013 season because the team played ineligible players in the victories.

In addition to the forfeitures, the school must also pay a total of $600 in fines.

The Trojans’ program will also be placed on administrative probation for one year and Central Lafourche coach Scott Duplantis will be ordered to take an LHSAA-sanctioned course regarding rules compliance.

According to the LHSAA’s report, the Trojans self reported the violation to the high school governing body.

In the report, the LHSAA said that Central Lafourche has played three players throughout the season who were ineligible.

The report does not list the players’ names, nor the reason their eligibility was lost.

The LHSAA says that two of the players in violation competed in eight contests, while the other played in five games.

The Trojans defeated Berwick, West Feliciana and South Terrebonne in that span. Those games are now marked as a forfeit loss in the standings.

Attempts to contact Central Lafourche administration were unsuccessful at press time.

Since being given the ruling on March 6, the Trojans have won a pair of games against Loreauville and Patterson.
