Winning the Southland Conference Championship has landed a slew of deserving Nicholls Colonels on the conference’s postseason team.

The league announced its All-Southland teams on Tuesday morning and 14 Colonels – a league high – are on the list, including six players who earned First-Team honors.

Quarterback Chase Fourcade took home the biggest prize, earning Southland Conference Player of the Year honors in his junior season.

Fourcade completed 176-of-291 passes for 19 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. He was also lethal as a rusher, carrying 122 times for 488 yards with a team-high nine touchdowns, while leading the Colonels to the Southland Conference Championship and also a spot in the FCS Playoffs for a second-straight year.

But other Colonels are on the list with premiere placement, as well.

On First-Team offense, linemen Ryan Hanley and Chandler Arceneaux earned honors, as well as kicker Lorran Fonseca.

Defensively, the Colonels had two players on the First Team – defensive tackle Sully Laiche and linebacker Eran Veron.

On the Second Team, the Colonels were also represented. Offensively, halfback Dontrell Taylor, lineman Eddie Houston, receiver Dai’Jean Dixon and punter Winston Jones earned honors.

Defensively, the Colonels had three defensive backs make the team – Darren Evans, Ahmani Martin and Khristian Mims. Punt returner Danion Jeanpiere Jr. also earned a spot on the list.

Four Colonels also earned Honorable Mention All-Southland honors, including Jeanpiere, P.J. Burkhalter, Ronald Ollie and Brandon Fontenot.

The Colonels will take on San Diego on Saturday at 3 p.m. at John L. Guidry Stadium in the First Round of the FCS Playoffs.
