Nicholls shortstop Joey Morales went out with a bang.

The senior earned a spot on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) All-Louisiana Team this past week, earning Second-Team honors after a great season for the Colonels.

Morales is a multi-year contributor for the Colonels, but his senior season was very effective.

The Fort Myers, Florida native had 49 hits in Southland Conference play with a .389 batting average and 17 multi-hit performances on the year.

That offense added to an already-slick glove Morales possessed at shortstop for Nicholls.

As a senior, he posted a .961 fielding percentage at shortstop and helped the Colonels turn 28 double plays in conference games.

Morales had 225 starts for the Colonels in his career.

In addition to the shortstop, senior Chet Niehaus earned Honorable Mention honors from the LSWA.

The outfielder had a .444 on-base percentage on the season, while hitting five home runs.
