The Tri-parish area’s top offensive lineman has re-opened his recruiting process.

South Lafourche offensive tackle Bailey Granier announced through multiple recruiting channels this week that he is again fielding offers from college football programs interested in his services.

The 6-foot, 6-inch, 300-plus-pound offensive tackle was previously committed to upstart SEC program Vanderbilt. But he reopened his recruitment after Commodores head coach James Franklin left the program and took the same position at Penn State.

Granier will now pick a laundry list of scholarship offers before National Signing Day on February 5.

The Rivals.com three-star prospect has a list of offers from a slew of programs across the Southeast.

Before committing to Vanderbilt, Granier had accumulated offers from top-tier programs like Alabama, Florida State, Arizona and Houston.

But with a lot of those programs having filled the open spots in their recruiting classes, it is believed in most recruiting circles that Granier will now choose from a smaller, more regionalized list that includes Tulane, Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State, among others.

LSU could also possibly be in the running, depending on how the remainder of the Tigers’ recruiting class shapes up.

Granier scheduled an official visit to Baton Rouge for Jan. 31 – just days before National Signing Day.

But when it’s all said and done, Granier may still end up signing with Vanderbilt. The standout prospect said that he isn’t ruling out the Commodores’ program, but is merely exploring all options before National Signing Day.

South Lafourche head football coach Dennis Skains said that Granier wants to evaluate the coaching decision for the Commodores before making a final decision.

The coach added that Granier initially liked Vanderbilt because of the power running game that the Commodores possessed under Franklin.

If the new coach has a similar system, he may still end up with the program.

“Franklin had a power running offense,” Skains said. “It set up perfectly for Bailey.”

Whoever gets a National Letter of Intent from Granier will receive a raw, but talented offensive lineman.

Granier has anchored South Lafourche’s line for each of the past several seasons, including the Tarpons’ 2012 offensive juggernaut year that saw the team post a perfect 9-0 regular season record.

Scouts tout that Granier is nimble and athletic for his size, and should be able to get stronger at the next level.

Granier is a full academic qualifier and is an Honor Roll student.
