Ryan Fournier told the Times this afternoon that has resigned as the head football coach at H.L. Bourgeois High School.

Fournier said he will be the new offense coordinator at Denham Springs High School.

“It was a family decision. There’s some things in that parish, financially, that could help me and my family,” Fournier said. “My wife and I, after thinking about it, certainly felt like it was the best decision for us.”

He exits the school with a 3-17 overall record as head coach.

“It’s about the kids and the relationships that you build with those young men,” said Fournier on what he cherishes the most from his time as head coach. “Certainlya lot of those guys are going to be guys that I’ll be in touch with for a long time. Those relationships that you build with those young men are things that’ll last a lifetime.

H.L. Bourgeois now joins two other Terrebonne Parish schools, Ellender Memorial High School and South Terrebonne High School, in the search for a new head football coach.
