Four Tri-parish girls’ basketball teams will host opening-round games in the LHSAA State Playoffs.

The LHSAA released the postseason brackets on Monday afternoon – a bracket loaded with Tri-parish squads.

Eight local teams will be featured in postseason play, headlined by Thibodaux, Ellender, E.D. White and Central Catholic – each of which earned a home game in round one.

In Class 5A, Thibodaux will ride into the playoffs as the No. 14 seed – an honor they earned after a 21-5 regular season.

The Tigers will host No. 19 Acadiana in opening round play.

Also in Class 5A, No. 30 South Lafourche will travel and play No. 3 Walker.

If both the Lady Tarpons and Lady Tigers score first-round wins, they would face one another in the Round of 16.

In Class 4A, three locals will vie for the state title.

Ellender will look to make a run as the No. 8-seed in that bracket. Their push will begin with a home battle with No. 25 Eunice.

Vandebilt and Morgan City will also compete for the Class 4A title, earning the No. 27 and No. 31 spots, respectively.

The Lady Terriers will travel to play No. 6 Cabrini in the first round, while Morgan City plays No. 2 Warren Easton.

If Vandebilt is unable to reach the State Semifinals, it will mark the first time since 2008 that the team doesn’t reach Hammond.

In Class 3A, E.D. White is the only Tri-parish team in the bracket, earning the No. 10-seed.

The Lady Cardinals will host No. 23 Independence in the first round.

In Class 1A, many expect Central Catholic to make a push for the state title.

Their trek will begin as the No. 2-seed in 1A. They will take on No. 31 Logansport this week in Morgan City.

The Lady Eagles are expected to be one of the top teams in the field with a glowing 24-3 record, filling with wins against elite competition.

On the opposite side of the Class 1A bracket, No. 21 Houma Christian will travel and face Block.
