Congratulations to local gymnast Carter Bourg, who will be representing Terrebonne Parish at the National Gymnastics Association Zone 8 and 3 Regionals at Alario Center this May!

Carter is an 8th grader at Houma Christian, and is no stranger to medals in the sport of gymnastics. In 2021, Carter won the State Championship at Level 3 and was National Champion for all 6 events. In 2022, Carter was 2nd Place in the State Championship and was National Champion for floor in Level 5. In 2023, Carter won the State Championship at Level 6 and won Vault Champion at Nationals. The young athlete has won multiple medals for all 6 events, and competes in rings, floor, parallel bars, high bar, vault, and pommel horse.

Carter has been a gymnast since he was 9, and trains at Gym Unlimited 3 times a week in Thibodaux. He has skipped levels in his division due to his immense skill, and this year will be competing at a Level 8 (out of 10).

This year, Carter won 1st place in four events at the State Championship and 2nd place in two events, making him the 2024 State Champion for Level 8.

“I’m feeling really excited to go to Regionals but also nervous,” said Carter. “I want to thank Coach Austin and my mom for always being there for me and helping me get this far.”

Cater will compete from May 17-19, 2024 at Alario Center in Westwego, Louisiana for the NGA Zone 8 and 3 Regional Championships. Good luck, Carter!
