Central Lafourche senior track standout Abby Lazard’s gold medal collection got a little heavier this past week.

She now has three more medals to add to the stack.

Competing at her final Lafourche Parish championship meet, the Lady Trojans standout took home the long, triple and high jump events for her team.

The trifecta came in dominant fashion, as Lazard won both the long and triple jump events by more than a foot, recording her personal best marks in both events, leaping 18-feet, 5-inches in the long and 38-feet, 8-inches in the triple jump.

Lazard’s feat was one of several high marks from our local stars at both the Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish championships.

In Lafourche, the South Lafourche boys took home the team title, thanks to dominance in the field events.

The Tarpons won the shot put, triple jump, high jump and pole vault in the meet, while also finishing in second place in the discus and javelin.

On the girls side, Thibodaux took home the team title with dominant relay running. The Lady Tigers won the 400, 800 and 1,600-meter relays to help clinch the win.

In Terrebonne Parish, things were a little more dramatic and both meets were decided by fewer than five points.

On the boys side, H.L. Bourgeois outlasted South Terrebonne 98-94, thanks to a strong showing from their short distance runners.

The Braves won the 100-meter dash, the 300-meter hurdles and the 4×200 meter relay during the meet.

Terrebonne took home the team title for the girls by one point over Vandebilt (93-92). The Lady Tigers were able to earn the victory in the meet, thanks to victories in the 4×100 meter relay and the 4×400 meter relay.
