Nicholls has added another option to its quarterback room — a guy who might well end up leading the team next season.

Nicholls confirmed this past week the rumors that the team had signed former LSU signee and Missouri transfer Linsdey Scott Jr., a Zachary native who will join the team immediately in the 2019 season.

Scott, a junior, has two seasons of eligibility left.

He will serve as an insurance policy in 2019 while Chase Fourcade plays out the remaining season he has left at the collegiate level.

After that, he will compete to start in 2020 and could buy the Colonels a little extra time in grooming some of their younger quarterbacks for the future.

Scott comes decorated.

He was a dominant force in high school, going 14-1 his senior season at Zachary High School, earning both a State Championship and also the Gatorade Louisiana Football Player of the Year.

Scott completed 163-of-255 passes for 3,039 yards and 33 touchdowns with just 5 interceptions.

Out of high school, Scott signed with LSU where he redshirted his true freshman season in 2016. After competing for the starting quarterback job in 2017, he transferred from LSU to East Mississippi Community College where he again proved a force.

In that season, Scott completed 258-of-398 passes with 29 touchdown passes and 3,481 yards. Scott also was an effective with his legs in 2017, rushing for 729 yards and six scores.

But more important than the stats was Scott’s continued pedigree for winning football games.

With East Mississippi, the team posted an 11-1 record, while winning the NJCAA National Championship.

After the 2017 season, Scott was recruited by several top-tier programs around the country.

He ended up choosing Missouri after a lengthy recruitment.

In 2018, his sophomore season, Scott was a reserve and member of the scout team.

In 2019, he competed to start, but was named the team’s backup.

Wanting a chance to compete to play, Scott left the team, which is how he ended up in his new home at Nicholls.

Scott is a redshirt junior who will have this season and next to play.

He wasn’t with the team last weekend at Prairie View, but they team has added him to its roster.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This is a huge get. I had the chance to write about Lindsey his senior year of high school and he is a thoughtful, talented young man who is an exceptional leader. If he’s Nicholls’ guy in 2020, the Colonels will be just fine at the quarterback position.
