FCS Playoffs

Nicholls is going to the playoffs for the third-straight year.

That's of no surprise.

The Colonels clinched an automatic bid into postseason by winning the Southland Conference Title.

But the Colonels learned their opponent today and their path toward a possible run at the National Championship.

The FCS Playoff Bracket was released today. The Colonels had a watch party on campus to celebrate their berth into the field.

Nicholls will host a first-round game for the third-straight year. They will take on North Dakota, an independent, conferencee-less squad with a 7-4 record.

Kickoff for the game will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The date with North Dakota will be a challenge for the Colonels.

North Dakota comes into the game with two-straight wins and a decorated resume. They beat Sam Houston State - a team that beat Nicholls earlier this season. They also beat national seed Montana State.

If Nicholls wins the game, their path forward is difficult.

The winner of the Nicholls/North Dakota game will meet No. 1 North Dakota State, the highest seed in the entire tournament.
