Nicholls’ 2019 football season opener will have a kickoff under the lights.

ESPN announced earlier this week that the team’s Aug. 31 season opener at Kansas State will be carried on ESPN+, and the game will be set for a 6:00 p.m. (CDT) opening kick.

The meeting between Nicholls and Kansas State will be the first for the programs, though the Colonels do have history in the Jayhawk State, having scored a 26-23 victory over Kansas to kick off last year.

The Colonels were 9-4 last season and made the FCS Playoffs for a second-straight year.

Kansas State will be looking to rebuild and regroup with first-year coach Chris Klieman, who took over after legendary coach Bill Snyder retired at the end of last season.
