The Nicholls State University women’s basketball team (1-1) breezed through an 81-53 win over the Lady Rams Wednesday night in Stopher Gymnasium for their home opener.

The Colonels grabbed 20 steals (first since 2017) in the victory, leading to a 31-2 advantage in points-off-turnovers and a 24-0 margin in fastbreak points.


Anna McKendree led the team on defense with a game-high five steals. She also had 10 assists. The scoring leader for the Colonels was sophomore Adrian Mann with 18 points.

The Colonels held Mobile without a point for the final five minutes of the game.

The team now heads to Mobile for their Dec. 5 matchup with the University of South Alabama, which is scheduled for 7 p.m.
