ALYSSA DOBSON

Terrebonne High School • Junior • Libero

What is the most challenging aspect of volleyball to you?

Serve receive is the most difficult part of the game for me. We have some good people in our area, and it’s definitely challenging.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten from a coach?

A coach once told me, ‘Just put everything that you have into what you’re doing on the floor, because one day it’s all going to be gone and you won’t be able to play anymore.’ That’s the best advice I’ve ever gotten.

What’s your best volleyball moment at Terrebonne?

Probably the H.L. Bourgeois game from a couple of weeks ago. We were behind two sets, and we came back and won. That would be my best moment so far. That was awesome.

What is the best thing about being a Terrebonne Tiger?

I think the best thing about this school is just being here and having all of the spirit around you from your teachers and your classmates. We have a lot of pride in our school, so I would say that’s the best thing about being a Terrebonne Tiger.

What’s your favorite team to play against?

That’d be either H.L. Bourgeois or Vandebilt. When we play them, it’s always a close match.

No. 1 song on your iPod:

I like ‘Wicked Games’ by The Weekend.

Favorite movie:

I’m so awful at these questions. This one is hard. I’ll say ‘Burlesque.’

Guilty pleasure midnight snack:

I like sour cream and onion potato chips.

Who’s your celebrity crush?

Logan Lerman.

What’s the first thing you think of before a tough match?

I just think to myself that it’s time to go out, do my best and play with all of my heart.

Post-graduation plans:

I want to be a neuropsychologist after I get out of high school and go off to college.

Credentials:

The Terrebonne High School volleyball team is always a local power – an annual contender in the state playoffs. This year, Alyssa Dobson is one of the big reasons why. The Tigers’ junior libero has 259 digs and 28 aces on the season, helping lead Terrebonne to a 15-9 start and a 4-0 mark in district play. Outside of the volleyball court, Dobson is also a standout student, boasting a great GPA. After high school, Dobson said she has plans to be a neuropsychologist. Still only a junior, Dobson said she plans to continue to progress in her off-time in hopes of leading the Tigers to two more strong playoff pushes.
