The Maxwell Football Club confirmed today what this newspaper already knew: Thibodaux native and Louisiana Tech cornerback Amik Robertson is one of the best college football players in the country.
Robertson was named to the 2019 Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List today – an award which is given annually to the College Football Defensive Player of the Year.
Robertson earned the distinction after tallying 61 tackles, four interceptions and 12 pass break-ups last season as a sophomore, earning First-Team All-Conference USA honors.
Robertson also had a huge freshman season for Louisiana Tech.
Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced Oct. 29, 2019, while the three finalists for the award will be unveiled Nov. 25, 2019.
