The Girl Scouts want to encourage people to get active.

They are holding a race this month to make that wish into a reality.

The Girl Scouts Louisiana East Chapter announced this week that it will hold its Second Annual Girl Scouts Louisiana East Thin Mint Sprint 5K on Feb. 15 at the New Orleans City Park festival grounds.

On that day, the Girl Scouts will also hold its 1-mile Daisy Dash fun run for anyone looking to get out and enjoy the day under the sun.

“Participating in the Thin Mint Sprint is an activity that families can enjoy together,” Race Coordinator Marissa Baham said. “We don’t care who can run the fastest, we just want girls and their families to be more active.”

Entry for the race is $30 per person if pre-registered before Feb. 15. But anyone that shows up the day of the race can still run after paying a $35 fee.

The Girl Scouts Louisiana East chapter services 23 parishes.

Young runners line up at the starting gate for last year’s Girl Scouts Louisiana East Thin Mint Sprint 5K. This year’s event will take place on Feb. 15 at the New Orleans City Park festival grounds. The race is designed to promote wellness and exercise.
