School is officially out for summer.

But the grind is only just beginning for local high school student-athletes.

Next week marks the beginning of the 2019 Swampland baseball season – a long-standing tradition in the local high school baseball community.

The league will feature teams from Lafourche, Terrebonne and St. Mary parishes. Teams will play three times a week until late-June.

Players on the teams will be student-athletes from local high schools - an opportunity for additional work for kids before the 2020 season next spring.

Check HoumaTimes.com throughout the summer for updates on the summer baseball season.
