Terrebonne’s Best: Ellender, VCHS win parish meet

The Vandebilt girls’ track team has been good all season.

But last week, they left no doubt that they are clearly the best team in Terrebonne Parish.

The Lady Terriers crushed the competition last Wednesday at the Terrebonne Parish Relays, scoring 212 team points to easily outlast Terrebonne and H.L. Bourgeois, who finished second and third, respectively with 94 and 90 points each.

Vandebilt either won or was near the winner’s circle in virtually every, single event of the meet, which allowed the team to pile up the necessary points to secure the championship.

On the boys’ side, things were much closer.

Ellender secured the parish championship, but it wasn’t without a stiff test from several other challengers.

The Patriots dominated the short-distance races and jumping events to score 126 points. That was enough to push past H.L. Bourgeois and Vandebilt, which scored 110 and 101 points, respectively.
