The Vandebilt Catholic cross country teams went home with a couple of trophies.

But boy, did they get a challenge from hungry Terrebonne in the process.

The Terriers swept the Parish Cross Country Meet yesterday at Terrebonne High School, securing the overall team titles for both the boys’ and girls’ meets.

The Terriers’ girls had no issues. They swept through the meet, finishing 1st-through-7th places in the race to outlast H.L. Bourgeois. The Lady Terriers and Lady Braves were the only teams fielding full rosters to complete the team portion of the race.

Brynn Kelso finished first overall in the race with a time of 20:07.918. Caroline Lindsay, Katherine Cazayoux, Logan Hamilton and Gracean Schexnayder rounded out the Top 5 – all Lady Terriers.

On the boys’ side, things were far more dramatic.

Vandebilt won the meet with 36 points, but Terrebonne narrowly missed out on the title with 38 points.

A matter of mere seconds separated several Terriers and Tigers, and any small change in the result could have flipped the entire outcome of the race.

Houma Christian School runner Antonio Delgado won the boys’ individual title with a time of 18:22.507. He outlasted runner-up Holden Beal by more than 30 seconds to win the title.
