This past weekend was an off-weekend in the NASCAR racing world as it was Easter weekend. Being as how it was a weekend away from racing, my fiancé and I decided to take a trip back home to South Louisiana. Although there was no racing, my schedule was still filled with things to do. I touched down in New Orleans on Wednesday and spent some time with my fiancé’s family as well as listened to a potential band for our wedding that night. On Thursday, we took a tour of our wedding reception venue and did food tasting with our caterer, my favorite part of the day. Throughout the entire day on Thursday, we were filmed by WGNO for an upcoming segment on News With a Twist, which will highlight my racing career as well as planning a wedding around a busy racing schedule.

On Friday, I was able to spend some time with my dad’s side of the family. We all got together to eat some seafood for lunch at Ralph & Kacoo’s in New Orleans. The food was great as usual and it was fun spending time with family. My fiancé and I spent the day on Saturday perusing New Orleans to take engagement pictures at various locations. We wanted to highlight different aspects of New Orleans heritage through our photos, and we had a great time doing it.

Sunday was Easter, and my mom’s side of the family came over to our house for lunch. We had a great lunch, and again, I was able to spend time with family I hadn’t seen in a while. I had a lot of fun. The NASCAR Nationwide Series is off again next weekend, so I will be staying down in Louisiana for another week and get some work done down here. I am looking forward to a few days at home, but I am already excited for the next race!! Don’t forget to follow me on twitter (@HalMartinRacing) and facebook (Hal Martin – Athlete). As always, enjoy your week and Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler!!!
