Vandebilt Catholic High School has its new football coach.

The school announced on Friday morning that Lance Ledet will take over the post that was vacated earlier this winter when outgoing coach Jeremy Atwell was not offered a contract for the next school year.

Ledet is a local – a native of Schriever. He’s an E.D. White graduate also a graduate of Nicholls State University.

Prior to taking the job at Vandebilt, Ledet was the defensive coordinator and assistant head football coach at Brother Martin.

Before being at Brother Martin, Ledet was a defensive coordinator at Destrehan, as well as a defensive coordinator at St. Pius X Catholic School in Houston.

During his career, Ledet has been part of winning programs. He’s won two state championships as a defensive coordinator and he was a state runner-up at Destrehan.

Ledet will be Vandebilt’s 16th head football coach.

He was chosen from large pool of candidates.

“I would really like to thank Mr. Boudreaux, Mr. Gueldner and the entire Vandebilt administration for this opportunity to lead our student-athletes on and off the football field,” Ledet said. “I can’t wait to get on campus and in the community to hit the ground running as soon as possible.”
