At age 12, Jace Crosby got a guitar, and he soon realized he wanted to make music for a living. Fast forward 15 years and Crosby is the owner of Mainwave Media, a state-of-the-art audio and video studio located in Houma.

After graduating with an associate of science degree in recording arts from Full Sail Real World Education in Winter Park, Fla., Crosby worked at Festival Studios in Kenner. While there, he began composing jingles for corporate clients and the ideas that laid the foundation for Mainwave Media had begun to coalesce.

Having worked with Grammy Award-winning artists such as the Beastie Boys, Queen Latifah and Green Day, Crosby developed an appreciation for the technology needed to create a top-notch recording. And after working with corporate clients such as Synergy Bank and Downhole and Design Inc., it was clear to him that there was a market in the Tri-parish area for a full-service audio and video production facility.

“There was no one in the Tri-parish area working with these people,” said Crosby.

Since starting Mainwave Media, Crosby has been spreading the word that his services are available.

Initially Mainwave advertised in local magazines. However with the number of films in production in Louisiana it seemed natural to advertise at AMC Theatres. This advertising venue was also a potential conduit for a highly desirable client base for an audio/video production business.

According to Crosby, “I would really like to do some soundtrack recording. They are doing a lot of films in South Louisiana.”

After acquiring an old law office and spending eight months restoring and customizing it, Crosby was ready to install the equipment that would separate his facility from all the others in the area.

“I’ve got six Apple G5’s, a Pro Tools HD3 interface with software, and an SSL mixing board. The only other studios in Southern Louisiana with comparable equipment are in New Orleans,” he said.

The studio has a separate video production facility, two separate studios, vocal recording booths, a live rehearsal space, a screening room, and a lounge. All of the recording equipment, video equipment, and musical instruments are state-of-the-art, from Gibson Les Paul guitars to Vox amplifiers.

Even the plush, rich furniture is from Hurwitz Mintz.

It is this attention to detail that sets the Mainwave Media studios apart.

The owner of the facility is a breed apart as well. In this era of specialization, Crosby effectively multitasks. “I work as a technical engineer, a music producer, a video editor-whatever it takes to satisfy my client, whether that is an artist or a corporation. I just want to provide top quality production for local clients,” he said.
