Nadjah Darwish Bergeron’s abstract work is on display March 4 through April 30 at Southdown Plantation.

Bergeron’s fleur de lis and abstact paintings reflect her view on springtime in a variety of colors and designs with a mixture of bright colors and neutral tones. And she uses a combination of media, including modeling paste, acrylics and gloss varnish on canvas.

“I like to create interesting textures and combinations of colors and shades,” she explains.

A native Panamanian, Bergeron is a self-taught artist but also holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. Her work has been included locally in Art After Dark in Houma and Art Walk in Thibodaux.

Bergeron says she was born with the desire to express herself in creative ways. “I am on a journey of continued growth and exploration, discovering my love for what I do,” she says.

An opening art reception for Bergeron is set for March 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Refreshments are served.

Southdown Plantation is located at 1208 Museum Drive in Houma. For more information, call (985) 851-0154.
