Those looking for a tasty time this weekend can take a trip with local beer enthusiasts to a brewery, all in the name of helping veterans.

The Bayou Beer Society is hosting a road trip to Bayou Teche Brewery in Arnaudville on Saturday to attend the brewery’s annual Burning Crawfish Festival. Proceeds from the event will help the American Legion Post 31 pay for a workshop for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The trip begins at 10 a.m. with a Hotard bus departing from the West Houma Cannata’s parking lot headed for Arnaudville. At the brewery, visitors will get a tour of the facility and receive a flight of Bayou Teche beers. There will also be live music and crawfish at the festival.

Bayou Beer Society President Joel Ohmer has received clearance from Hotard to sip beers on the ride to Arnaudville and back.

The society is looking at other activities, such as a beer-pairing dinner, to raise additional money for veteran causes.

Tickets for Saturday’s trip cost $48 and are available at tinyurl.com/bayoutechetour. For more information, call 985-438-0169.
