Ernest “E.J.” Joseph Duplantis Jr., age 71, passed away surrounded by his loving family at 8:07 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was a native and resident of Houma, L.A.

Ernest is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlene Marie Menard Duplantis; son, Michael J. Duplantis and wife, Rhonda; daughter, Michelle D. Fanguy and husband, Jonathan “Johnny” Jr., brothers, Johnny P. Duplantis Sr. and wife, Carol, and Tony A. Duplantis and wife, Cindy; sister, Trudy M. Duplantis; grandchildren, Tre’ M. Marcel, Devin M. Duplantis, Tate L. Fanguy, Macy L. Fanguy, and Caleb J. Duplantis; and great-grandson, Kai A. Marcel.


E.J. served in the U.S. Army as an E4 Specialist Combat Infantryman during the Vietnam conflict. He was a recipient of Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, and The Order of the Purple Heart, Evergreen Lions Club, and East Park Volunteer Fire Company. He was a past member of the Terrebonne Sportsman League. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, trawling, and camping. He never let his disability stop him. He lived life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
