James “Ralph” Baker Sr., 91, a native of Waverly, Tennessee and resident of Houma, passed away Nov. 13, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Harrison Baker; sons, James R. Baker Jr. (Sandra) and Jerry G. Baker (Joette); sister, Martha Meredith (Don); grandchildren, Christopher Baker, Paul Baker, Kelly Stuart and Tiffany Leleux; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Jack and Will Baker, Racheal Ingram, Alya, McKenzie, Harrison Baker, Michael and Andrew Stuart, Parker and Alice Leleux.
He was the owner and operator of Southland Dragways and Baker Pipeline Construction Company Incorporated. He was a devout member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Houma, where he served on several committees. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved to fish.
