BE YOUR OWN ONE-MAN BAND AT THE CHOCTAW LIBRARY


Children ages 5 to 11 can create their one-man band by crafting a mini banjo. maracs, and Den Den drum at 2 pm. on June 19 at the Choctaw Branch Library. 1837 Choctaw Road. Space is limited, so registration is required. Signup early at the library.

PROFESSOR TO DISCUSS RAP’S GLOBSL IMPACT AT THIBODAIUX LIBRARY

Stuart Tully, assistant professor of history at Nicholl State, will discuss rap music’s impact on areas outside of the United States during a special presentation “All Around the World: Hip Hop in a Global Context” beginning at SIS pan. an June 19 at the Thibodaux Branch Library, 7D6 W. Fifth Street.


GHEENS LIBRARY TO HOST CHALLENGE DAY FOR TWEENS, TEENS:

Children and teens ages 8 to 16 can challenge one another in several outdoor obstacle course games beginning at 3 p.m. on June 20 at the Gheens Branch Library, 153 N. Leon Drive.

GHEENS LIBRARY SEEKING MUSICIANS FOR JAM SESSION:


Area musicians are invited to join staff and others at the Gheens Branch Library. 153 N. Lean Drive, at 3. p.m. on June 21 for a daytime jam session in celebration of World Music Day.

MAKE A DIY SEAFOOD SCRUB AT THE LOCKPORT LIBRARY:

Love seafood, but hate the smell it leaves on your hands? Adults can atop by the Lock-port Branch Library. 720 Crescent Avenue, to learn to make a DIY seafood scrub to scrub the smell away at 10:30 am on June 26.


LEARN TO PLAY A RECORDER AT THE THIBODAUX LIBRARY:

Children ages 8 to 12 can develop basic music skills and breathing techniques learning to play a recorder at the Thibodaux Branch Library’s Music in Motion: Recorder Training at A p.m. on June 27. Those attending will receive a recorder and can attend future sessions to develop their skills. Space is limited, so registration is required to attend. Register early at the library. 705 W. Fifth Street.

THIBODAUX LIBRARY TO POST HOST SUMMER FOREIGN LANGUAGE INNERSON WORKSHOP.


Tweens and teens ages 10 to 15 can explore Cajun and Parisian French through art music, and literature during a foreign language immersion workshop at the Thibodaux Branch Library. 70S W. Fifth Street. Those interested can attend either of two sessions in June, at 3 pm on June 28 or June 20. Space is limited, so registration is required to attend-Sign up early at the library.
