Oneil J. Colwort, age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 2:30pm. He was a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, La.

Oneil is survived by his sister-in-law, Beatrice Colwort and numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece Sandra Bradley, and his life-long family friends, the Ellender family.

Oneil’s service in the United States Navy in WWII included naval support for the invasion of Normandy, the Asiatic Pacific, and the Philippine Liberation. His many talents included carpentry, welding, cooking, dancing, and organic gardening. Oneil was featured in the Houma Courier in 2012 for growing a 5-pound mirliton. He enjoyed fishing and hunting through his late 80’s.

The Ellender family wishes to thank Dr Russell Henry, Dr Joni Claville, Dr Melvin Chu, the amazing TGMC 5N team for their care and support, and Haydel Memorial Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Oneil’s name to the Houma Regional Military Museum.
