Jaydon Cheramie

SENIOR • FOOTBALL QUARTERBACK, HOOPS GUARD

Name: Jaydon Cheramie

Height: 5’10”

Weight: 160

Grade: I will be a senior next school year.

School: I attend South Lafourche High School.

Sports played: Jaydon is the starting quarterback on the Tarpons’ football team. He helped lead the team to the playoffs last season — his first season seeing time as a varsity signal caller. Jaydon is also the starting point guard on the Tarpons’ boys’ basketball team.

Passing statistics: Jaydon completed 74-of-141 passes for 1,024 yards and 11 touchdowns last season for a Tarpons offense that was among the area’s leaders in productivity and efficiency.

Rushing statistics: As a ball carrier, Jaydon was also impactful. He rushed 140 times for 743 yards with 12 scores as a junior. He had two games with more than 100 yards and he averaged more than 5 yards per carry on the season.

Favorite thing about being an athlete: I like to compete. I like to be with my teammates on Friday nights during football or during those Tuesday and Friday nights in the basketball season. There’s nothing like giving everything you’ve got and finding a way to get a victory.

Scouting report: Jayden is tough, hard-nosed and is a very gifted athlete.

Credentials: This will not be the first nor the last time you’re reading about Jaydon Cheramie in the confines of these newspaper pages. The second-year South Lafourche starting quarterback is looking to build on a solid junior season where he accumulated nearly 2,000 yards of offense for the Tarpons. Jaydon was part of 23 touchdowns as a junior — a number he wants to best in 2016. Jaydon is also a starter on the hardwood and is one of the area’s best all-around perimeter defensive players.
