What is the most challenging thing about basketball?
The most challenging thing is the physical grind. To be the best at basketball like I want to be, you have to really put your body through a lot. You have to always be willing to be working even when everyone else is asleep. That takes a lot of discipline and sacrifice, but it is what it is. That’s the job we sign up for when we play this sport.
Best advice a coach has ever given you?
The best advice I ever received would be to not let size matter. I’m not the biggest player there’s ever been, but at the end of the day, this game is about putting the ball in the hole more than your opponent does. I’ve seen big guys who can’t play and little guys who can. It’s all about what’s inside of your heart.
Best basketball moment?
It was in high school when we won our first round playoff game. I was dribbling at the top of the key and I kicked it out to my teammate Aaron Smith on the wing, and he made a game-winning 3-pointer to send us to the next round. That was awesome.
Best thing about being a collegiate baller?
For me, I’d say it’s all a blessing. But I think just the ability to have so much time to work on things that I want to work on. I want to get better and to keep growing in this sport. So I think the opportunities to practice, compete and work on the game are what’s so important. In high school, you really only get access to the gym during the actual season itself.

NBA star you admire most:
Kobe Bryant
Why?
Kobe Bryant works harder than anyone else does and doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. I love his drive and his intensity, and it seems like every year, he comes back and has a new little wrinkle to his game. That shows hard work, discipline and a desire to be better. That’s the reason why I admire him. He has less natural talent than LeBron James, but he gets results because he wants it more.
