Sydney Margaret LeCompte Sheffield, 100, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 8:03AM. She was a native of Bourg, LA and a resident of Houma, LA.


Sydney is survived by her daughters, Susan S. Nusynowitz (Martin), Jane S. Cunningham (Philip); daughter-in-law, Gwen LeBlanc Sheffield; grandchildren, Kelly Cupero (Hamil), Emily Barrow (Patrick), Christina Knight (Thomas), Wendy Rome, Roy K. Sheffield (Angel), Nicole Foret (Dennis), Sally Fortenberry (Charles); eight great grandsons and nine great grand-daughters; and two great-great grand-daughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sydney retired with the State of Louisiana serving as the secretary for Judge Morris Lottinger. She later worked for many years in the insurance industry.

Sydney enjoyed gardening, candy making, baking, her Easter BBQ’s, and reading. She was a great cook and was known for her award winning pralines. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.


She will be dearly missed by her family and friends; never forgotten and always forever loved.
